Companies, tools & people

I like making
things work.

I made my first website in 1998. I’m still excited by how quickly an idea can become something another person uses.

Right now, most of my building time goes into AI agents. I’m interested in the whole task: can the software take useful action, handle a problem, and finish the work? A good demo is a start. I want to know what happens on an ordinary Tuesday.

My projects have included Anima, working on content tools for e-commerce, and AI-guided support for people who want to stop smoking. I keep experimenting with what small teams can build and how much of the repetitive work software can take on.

Before AI, hemp

I launched Kanavape in 2014, then built Harmony. We developed more than 120 hemp products and sold over seven million units. Over the years, we hired more than 100 people. Product development, distribution, hiring, cash flow: I learned by having to make decisions with consequences.

Our work also took us to the Court of Justice of the European Union. The 2020 Kanavape ruling challenged restrictions on CBD produced lawfully in another EU country. That experience taught me how much work can sit between a reasonable idea and permission to pursue it.

Working with founders

I invest in early-stage companies and advise where my experience is useful. I’m drawn to AI, wellness, psychedelic medicine, and businesses that take their effect on the world seriously. A clear explanation of the product matters more to me than a grand statement of purpose.

I can help with product decisions, distribution, and the practical mess of building a company. I’m particularly interested when a founder understands the problem firsthand and is willing to test their assumptions.

If you want to talk, send me the company, what you’ve built, and where you’re stuck. A short, specific message gives us a better place to start.
